"I learned what it takes to get results."
It was clear to me during my initial interview at Ashbaugh Beal that they were the firm for me. That initial feeling was confirmed each day of my Summer Associate experience. The appeal for me was the opportunity to work with talented, hard working lawyers in a result-oriented environment.
From the beginning, I felt like a valuable member of the team. I was provided with an array of practical assignments that were both challenging and interesting. On each project the assigning lawyer took the time to provide me with background information. As a result, I always felt my work was important and an essential component of the final product. It was very rewarding to see my research and other contributions incorporated into the firm's final work product.
In addition to the wide range of projects I was given, the firm made a conscious effort to involve me in the many aspects of the everyday practice of law. On my first day I was given a time sensitive project from a senior partner and also observed a trial. By the end of my second week I had been asked to sit in on depositions and invited to attend and provide input in an initial client meeting.
Over the course of the summer I was able to work with nearly every associate and partner at the firm. This allowed me to see a variety of styles and work in all the firm's practice areas.
While the lawyers and staff at Ashbaugh Beal routinely work long hours in order to address client issues and obtain desired results, it is clear that all members of the firm recognize the importance of having a life outside the office. The firm had a variety of social events throughout the summer that enabled me to not only become acquainted with the lawyers and staff, but also our clients. I played in a number of golf tournaments, I was invited to partners' homes for social functions, and often when I showed up to work I found Mariners, Seahawks, or Sounders tickets on my desk.
I am extremely excited about returning to Ashbaugh Beal after graduating from law school. I highly recommend Ashbaugh Beal to anyone looking for interesting and challenging work in a supportive and friendly environment.
