Jonathan Gabelein
Construction Consultant
I believe law as results means PERSISTENCE. It's about finding a way to get the job done and done right and staying the course until we reach the finish line to achieve the best resolution possible for the client.
As an in-house construction consultant at Ashbaugh Beal I work directly with both the Firm's clients and attorneys in the prevention, analysis and resolution of construction disputes. This work includes the preparation and presentation of claims and claim defenses. My claim analyses include all aspects of entitlement evaluation and damage calculation.
Before joining Ashbaugh Beal, I acquired 17 years of experience in the construction industry beginning in the field trades as a laborer, carpenter's helper and cement finisher on concrete construction projects. After earning my B.S. in Construction Management from Central Washington University, I worked for two major general contractors and was engaged in project management of all phases of construction operations ranging from pre-construction to job close-out.
My experience includes high profile public and private projects with contract values up to $350 million involving cultural, institutional, and commercial buildings, as well as heavy highway, civil, marine and bridge work. My experience also includes both new and renovation / retrofit work and involved a full range of construction contract formats including hard bid, negotiated GMP, CM, and design-build.
My responsibilities ranged from general field engineering duties to project management responsibilities including estimating, cost and quality control, contract negotiations and development, organization and management of contract administration and project planning and scheduling programs
During my tenure in the construction industry, I successfully implemented claims and dispute avoidance programs and gained extensive experience in negotiating and resolving change orders, claims and disputes involving subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and public agencies. At Ashbaugh Beal, I use my past experience and industry knowledge to assist clients in the prevention and resolution of construction disputes.
